Dalton Wong is a Personal Trainer to the stars and runs Twenty Two Training. As Jennifer Lawrence says "Dalton changed my body for a movie but taught me the skills to change my life."
Has fitness, training and exercise always been important to you?
Movement and wellness have always been important to me as it's about embracing a healthy lifestyle. My father died when I was very young from heart disease, so I'm doing my best to follow healthy habits to beat any poor genetic traits that I may have inherited.
How did you train to become a personal trainer and where?
Being a trainer has been my only career and I was lucky enough to start at the Cheslea Harbour Club in the 1990s. I travelled extensively around the world to learn from some of the great conditioning coaches and therapist from all over the world. Some of my best teachers have been my fellow trainers!
Which sports or fitness activities do you enjoy most?
Besides lifting weights, I love running with my dog Teva and also I have been doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the past 13 years.
How do you motivate yourself to exercise?
I go to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at least 3 times a week, it's fun and I have great training partners! The motivation is to keep training so I don't get smashed by the up and coming coloured belts. I train at Roger Gracie Academy which is one of the best academies in the world and it's also very close to my home, so I have no excuses.
How did you start working with celebrities?
I was fortunate to work with other trainers who referred me to their celebrity clients. Also talent agents and production companies recommended me as well.
When did you start Twenty Two Training and how has it grown?
I started TwentyTwo Training over 10 years ago and we have grown from a small local gym, to a gym where we are advising clients all over the world and working on various TV and Film productions.
Tell us a little bit about your book The Feelgood Plan.
The Feelgood Plan is my book that gives you practical real-world advice with regards to movement, food, stress management and lifestyle habits. I wanted to write a book which both my kids Indigo and Ethan could follow during any phase of their life. It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle!
What does the future hold for you?
I recently partnered with a great medical clinic on Harley Street and we formed a new company called One health - https://onehealth.squarespace.com/
We have combined personal and medical wellness which allows us to know at a cellular level what is happening in our body, on the inside and out. This information allows us then to suggest the appropriate medical, movement, nutrition, cognitive and stress management approach at a truly bespoke level, which allows us to become the best version of ourselves.
