I was one of the first Lotte Berk holiday groups to go to Tina’s wonderful home in the village of Verteuil in the Charentes region of France. I was a complete Lotte Berk novice, but love pilates and was in need of an escape from work themed around a bit of enjoyable exercise. What a totally fantastic experience, I absolutely loved it and am now a complete LB convert – I’m continuing with the classes back in London.

The morning and evening classes framed the day – one before a leisurely breakfast and the other handily giving us time for a quick shower before pre-evening drinks. What you do in between is up to you. We had an incredibly sociable group and activities ranged from lounging by the pool in the sun, local walks, exploring local villages and markets, cycle rides (it is hilly, whatever Tina tells you!) and kayaking. Everyone took things at their own pace and there was no pressure to join in for those who preferred to just chill and read a book.

The house was simply gorgeous and beautifully decorated, and the garden magnificent. To hear the river running by while sitting in the garden hammock was sheer joy. But the main features were the outside drinks area, dining table, pool and dance studio.

Another of Tina’s secret weapons is the friend and chef she employs for these holidays – Christopher Trotter. The food was absolutely amazing and all made from scratch every day. He’s pretty well known and an absolute bonus, meals were all delicious and extremely convivial. He’s also a saint for putting up with a load of chattering women in his kitchen as he produces his masterpieces.

Tina and Christopher were such wonderful hosts, and everyone was sociable and friendly … I will certainly be booking myself in next year.

A wonderful introduction to Lotte Berk. Wasn’t sure what to expect but with Tina’s expert tuition I began to master the movements!!

The most stunning house and location with superb surroundings. Lovely atmosphere and very homely. Excellent cuisine provided by Christopher the Chef. Many highlights from an action packed 5 day trip including cycling and particularly Kayaking glorious, especially with Christopher meeting us half way down the river with a superb picnic!

Came home on a high and look forward to the next time and discovering more muscles!!
